Welcome to St Mary’s Walberton in West Sussex, where people have encountered God’s love in Jesus for over a thousand years. We are a community of people on a journey together, committed to loving God and loving Community in all that we do.

We express our love for God in a rich variety of worship – from the beauty and rich tradition of Anglican liturgy and music to the informality of our ‘Morning Praise'.  We seek to show our love for our community throughout the week in a range of activities and events, and through working in partnership with others.  We find support for our life’s journey through opportunities to meet for prayer, learning and friendship tailored to different ages and needs.
As well as Walberton village, our parish covers the smaller settlements of Fontwell, Avisford and Slindon Common. For nearly 100 years we have been linked with the neighbouring rural parish of Binsted, with its delightful Norman church also dedicated to St Mary. If you live in any of these communities St Mary’s is your parish church.

If you are visiting the area St Mary’s stands ready to welcome you.  Whatever your reason for coming here – whether you are in need of help; searching for a church; looking forward to your wedding or christening; exploring faith or simply passing by – come and see us soon. We would love to meet you.

**St Mary's Church - Public Services Suspended**
The standing committee of St Mary’s Walberton met on Thursday 14 January and unanimously proposed that public services in church should be suspended from Sunday 17 January until the end of February. This was caused by an increase in cases known to us in our in our area over the previous week and the lack of volunteers to steward the church for services, so that we felt it was not safe enough to continue for the moment. The PCC has concurred by email with the proposal which will be reviewed at the PCC meeting w/c 18 January and again in the middle of February. We very much hope people will use the service offered online this Sunday. We intend to have another 'Parish Prayer Day' on Ash Wednesday, 17 February.
The church will be open daily for private prayer from 10am to 4pm from Sunday 17 January. Face masks are obligatory, please sanitise your hands when you arrive and as you leave. Those people who are extremely clinically vulnerable (ie shielding) should stay at home as much as possible at this time.
Weddings are permitted with no more than 6 people attending. Funerals are permitted with between 20-30 persons, depending on how many families attend and Burial of Ashes are also permitted with no more than 6 people. House of Prayer: St Theresa of Avila taught that prayer is nothing less than an act of love - love for God and love for others. Across the many different parts of Christ’s church each has its own rich tradition of prayer.  Adding to our House of Prayer something that you have found to be of help in giving thanks, saying sorry, or seeking God's grace, is a loving way of sharing with others some of the riches we have gathered on our own journey of faith. (see first box on right to email your prayers)
