Giving
St. Mary’s Walberton is a warm and friendly church growing in the Love of God and in our Community. A large number of people contribute towards the on-going life of the Church; there is a strong desire to see the work of the Church locally go from strength to strength and be actively involved in supporting the local community.
Parish Churches receive no Government or Central Church funding and we depend on the generosity of people who feel that this is our church and each and everyone of us needs to make meaningful contributions towards sustaining and developing the work and growth of the Church in our Community.
To achieve this requires considerable on-going financial support. Our budget is growing past the £100,000 mark and this has to be met mainly by the members of our congregation. They pledge each year over £75,000 through the Gift Aid scheme and outside it and we are immensely grateful for this generous support.
We need to keep this going as the move into implementing our Parish Vision and through our mission to Love God – Love Community
What next?
“God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work…You will be made rich in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”
2 Corinthians 9: 8-11
We like to invite you to look into your hearts and see how you can support your local church in it’s mission. We hope you would wish to be part of the Planned Giving Scheme as regular giving helps with the planning of church finances and creates tax efficiencies and most important demonstrates our love of God.
How you can help?
- If you are already part of our planned giving scheme we thank you for your generous support and hope that you can continue to support us.
- If you are not part of our planned giving programme, please may we ask you to consider becoming one of our regular givers.
- If you are a UK tax payer, you can give through the Gift Aid scheme by completing and signing a Gift Aid declaration. Your gift then enables us to reclaim tax you would pay through the HMRC’s tax recovery scheme for charities. This adds vital income to our finances.
We ask you to set your giving at a level you are comfortable with, that reflects what God does for you and helps to support us in the coming years.

A lasting gift to your Church
Once you have made provision for your loved ones, you have the opportunity to make a lasting gift to God, by leaving a legacy to His church. A gift in your Will to your local church is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support its mission and ministry within your community.
A gift can be an expression of your gratitude and thanksgiving towards God, and can help keep your local church alive, and help transform its future.
